At Bodyrefine, our bespoke approach to client training includes Kinetic Chain Assessment (KCA), a biomechanical analysis technique essentially used by the industry’s leading personal trainers. The kinetic chain is comprised of the nerves, muscles and bones, all of which interlink to create movement, therefore a fine balance is needed amongst the three for the body to function correctly. Muscle imbalances and postural misalignments can affect many people including golfers, tennis players, post-natal women and, unbeknown to them, people who exercise regularly in health clubs. This further stresses the body, affecting people’s sporting ability and inhibiting the efforts of those who look to refine their body through exercise. At Bodyrefine, we precede exercise prescription with KCA. This helps us identify postural faults caused by muscular weaknesses and tightness, and the subsequent inability of these muscles to function correctly. Without the use of KCA, many personal trainers and class instructors fail to notice when certain muscles which they intend to target through exercise are actually being prohibited from functioning correctly. Our detailed, pre-exercise postural analysis allows us to pinpoint a safe starting point for the client. Using selective strength and flexibility exercises, our primary objective is to realign the body, ensuring that muscles function correctly without the risk of further injury or complication caused by excess tension or overload. We then gradually introduce the client to progressive exercises which are suited to their physical condition, are functionally beneficial to daily activity, and designed to help them achieve a body shape they feel confident with. After realigning a client’s posture and strengthening the internal muscles which stabilise the spine we introduce Movement Based Flexibility (MBF) to a client’s workout. Using dynamic flexibility routines, MBF is highly beneficial for all of those who exercise, helping to maintain muscle synergy and eliminate tension from certain muscles which would otherwise prohibit other muscles in the body from functioning correctly. MBF helps improve the power and dynamic flexibility of the muscles which the body is highly dependent upon in golf, tennis and exercises such as running.
