As an Osteopath it is important to know other local health care professionals who have a high standard of knowledge and expertise. David McGill fills all these requirements and delivers his professional advice with enthusiasm, sincerity and empathy. The practitioners at Somacare Osteopathic Clinic will continue to refer patients to David who need specific, individualised corrective exercise programmes, opposed to a ‘one size fits all’ approach. I first came to see David on the recommendation of my osteopath after suffering from recurring shoulder and neck pain. In the past I have seen different personal trainers who despite several attempts at different techniques were not able to offer me a solution to my pain or a way forward. I eventually ended up with an extreme injury which stopped me from exercising. Following David's initial assessment, he designed a programme which has treated the root cause of my recurring injury. Through these exercises, my shoulder sits more naturally and I can work out again and go about my daily life without suffering the recurring pain and injuries which I had before. I cannot recommend David highly enough and especially to anyone who experiences muscular pain or joint discomfort whilst exercising.
As a 1 handicap golfer, I have been working with David for 12 months now. Initially he used corrective strength and flexibility exercises which stopped my back pain. Since then, his programme has significantly increased my power and flexibility, adding distance and consistency to my game. If you are serious about improving your golf, I would recommend working with David.
David's expertise and motivational approach are enough to spur me on. I cannot recommend him highly enough to anyone who wants to achieve realistic results from their exercise routine, especially to anyone affected by muscle or joint pain during exercise. I approached him as I was unhappy with the lack of results I was seeing in my body shape and muscle tone despite exercising regularly. I was initially apprehensive as my previous experience of the personal trainers was unsatisfactory, due to the ‘one programme fits all’ approach most of them use. David is so much more than this! In a helpful, professional manner he created a tailor made regime to suit my fitness objectives and worked with me on treating previously recurring joint and muscular injuries using massage and corrective exercise. This totally transformed my ability to exercise and my confidence to do so. My figure has improved dramatically and I've received such positive feedback. Years of running had left me with recurrent injuries that were continuing to hamper my progress and de-motivate me. I had unsuccessfully tried several personal trainers in the past and consulted with different health professionals with regard to my injuries so I was most interested in David's Kinetic Chain Assessment approach. David has a calm, patient, professional manner. His knowledgeable explanations of the exercises enables me to have a greater understanding of how a body works more efficiently when balanced, how it reacts to exercise and therefore, the subsequent avoidance of injury. By working with David I am injury free, my running has improved as has my body shape. Most importantly, I am enjoying exercising again. David's encouragement & commitment to his clients is a testament to his genuine desire to help the individual.
I've had many massages over the years and I've often come away feeling good but then the pain comes back the next day or so. Not with Dave. Not only does he listen really well (rather than just relying on some paper-based questionnaire) to get to the root cause, but he's also fantastically gifted at giving a good, firm massage (though he's at pains to check it's not too strong.) His expert knowledge of how the body works means he'll talk you through stretches and tips to prolong the effects afterwards. So, not only do you walk away smiling and pain free, but the effects of his healing hands are longer lasting. 5 out of 5 every time - I thoroughly recommend him.
